Alpha Mom, a Nigerian short film written and produced by Adelarin Awotedu, directed by Akin Harrison, starring Judith Audu and Sunkanmi Awotedu and recently nominated for best short film category at the Best of Nollywood (BON) awards has been selected for screening at the 13th edition of the International Images Film Festival for Women, 2014 which will take place in Harare from August 15th-23rd.
The festival founded and run by Zimbabwean women passionate about film is one of Zimbabwe’s most strategically sound and tactically organized creative industry initiatives. IIFF films are selected for relevance, artistry and uniqueness. The films interrogate, debate and celebrate the world of women as well as the world and communities that women live in.
Celebrating women, Tough yet possessing a rare gift of loving unconditionally, emotionally strong and brave, IIFF 2014’s theme is Women Alive: Women of Heart!
Also showing at the festival will be the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie‘s book of the same title Half of a Yellow Sun directed by Biyi Bandele and Sundance acclaimed Mother of George directed by Andrew Dosumu.
