Turning Point is Black Hollywood meets Nollywood and Ghollywood, set in Nigeria and in New York. The movie is a melting pot of black people of different ethnicity with a sprinkling of Caucasian and Latino characters. Naturally, the debate on race comes to the fore. Patience Ozokwor and Oge Okoye deserve awards for their theatrical, over-the-top and comic performances. Jackie Appiah also puts up a good performance as naïve Nigerian girl turned “street” except for her Ghanaian accent, which slips in a few times. The lighting, sound, costume and cinematography is miles apart from what is obtained in today’s Nollywood.
