Title: While You Slept

Genre: Drama

Director: Desmond Elliot

Year: 2014

Subtlety is something that Ini Edo (the star) and Desmond Elliot (director) forgot about in While You Slept. The scenes are punctuated with melodramatic moments, trademark screams and overacting. The supporting acts (Venita Akpofure and Joseph Benjamin) are there to look good, strut their stuff and do nothing more. The scenes drag, the script is convoluted and the chemistry between Edo and Benjamin is awkward. The background music, lighting and sound do not fare better. Overall, it is a disappointing effort and one of the less successful films from Royal Arts Academy. In this case, less would have been more.
