The hotly anticipated big budget Nigerian production, Half of a Yellow Sun has claimed the number one spot at the Nigerian Box Office. According to the distributor for the film, FilmOne Distribution, the movie which has been selling out across Nigerian cinemas beats Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy (in 2D and 3D), Bad Neighbours, 22 Jump street, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Think Like a Man Too.
Half of a Yellow Sun is the movie adaptation of the esteemed novel of the same title written by award winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. Directed by Biyi Bandele, the movie features a mix of Hollywood and Nollywood stars such as Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Joseph Mawle, Anika Noni Rose, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, John Boyega, Rob David, Babou Ceesay, O.C. Ukeje, Onyeka Onwenu and Paul Hampshire.
Synopsis
Half of a Yellow Sun depicts the introduction of turmoil into the privileged life of twin sisters when civil war threatens the newly independent Nigeria.
