Ojuju will premiere in New York on 27 March 2015 as part of the New Voices in Black Cinema. Speaking to Nolly Silver Screen, CJ Obasi expressed his excitement about the inclusion of the film this year. Obasi who won the Trailblazer Award at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards said, “The curator of the festival, Tambay A. Obenson facilitated the process.” He added: “I wanna have my work seen in as many and diverse places and platforms. And so far that’s what I’m pushing for. An artist’s work must be shown.”
Ojuju which won the award for the Best Nigerian Film at the 2014 Africa International Film Festival in Calabar has already screened at Eko International Film Festival,Lagos; Pan African Film Festival, Los Angeles and Shockproof in Prague.
Obasi is currently in production for his next feature O-Town which he describes as a “semi autobiographical crime gangster epic, set in Owerri and is my exploration in genre filmmaking.”
