Desmond Elliot gets re-elected into Lagos house of assembly

Few hours after Nollywood star Desmond Elliot was attacked by hoodlums in Lagos, he has been declared winner of of the Surulere 1 state Constituency election in Lagos State.

According to Punch, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), made the declaration on Sunday, March 10, 2019, after Elliot, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), emerged winner with 15,357 votes, a wide margin over Benjamin Olasunkanmi, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second with 3,628 votes.

Returning officer, Dr Bolajoko Dixon-Ogbechi, during her declaration said: “That Desmond Olusola Elliot of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected.”

The excited actor and politician took to Instagram to say this :

“Thank you , Thank you ,Thank you
Surulere,Surulerians, Everyone . Thank you for giving me another opportunity to serve . I promise to be better and give more than my best to make you proud . To those I may have hurt , offended ,knowingly or unknowingly pissed off, ahh to those who can NEVER see anything good in me ,I’m very sorry. I dedicate this victory to God Almighty. To the memory of my Late Father Engr Emmanuel Elliott. My late Step mum . I dedicate this to all SURULERIANS you made it happen .. again”.
