Thorn is an 8-minute short, online film. It is an interesting clip that captures what the life of an individual could be like if they do not resolve issues of the past.
A male character – Tony (Sambasa Nzeribe), burdened with the trauma of the constant abuse of his mother (Adeola Akintunde) by his father ( Toyin Oshinaike), barges into the apartment of his neighbour – Ade (Kelvin Mary), when he continues to hear the noise of a battered female. He subdues the hapless man and eventually kills him. Then, denouement sets in when he realises that the voices he has been hearing are from the TV and that Ade was actually in the middle of a romantic dinner with his wife (Akaigwe Ijeoma), not battering her.
Thorn was written, produced and directed by Bola Akanbi and won the AMVCA 2020 award for Best Short Film.
