The anxiety over the release of the MTV Shuga Mini Series has been strong, and on since the announcement of its release was made.
The first episode dropped two nights ago and lasted only 5 minutes! Amazing, right? What’s more, it was not disappointing.
MTV Shuga Alone Together is exploring how people in different African countries (Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and South Africa) are coping with the lockdown, and will depict how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting every aspect of life.
Even though this new season was entirely self filmed by the actors, it did not compromise on quality in any way.
The first episode brings on a very relatable situation – Fake News!
Wasiu (AKA Da Waz, or Wazkid for short) gave us lots of laughs as he went on Instagram Live to spread conspiracy theories and fake news. We’re sure you’ll remember the ‘Whatsapp Warriors’ on your contact list when you watch this episode. You know them, right?
Tobi (Timini Egbuson) also put up a brief but strong appearance as Wasiu’s exasperated boss. Apparently, Wasiu was using his boss’ company accounts to spread fake news! Ooops. Looks like Wazkid is in trouble!
In times like this, it’s really great to have something fun and fresh to anticipate. We look forward to seeing the perspective of the other characters and how they are coping with the lockdown in their respective countries.
