Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu has been appointed as the Principal Head of Content Acquisition, Africa for Amazon Prime.
Prior to this appointment, Ms Mba-Uzoukwu was the Regional/Channel Director for M-Net Africa, a position she held for seven years.
In her new role, Ms Mba-Uzoukwu is expected to “define and execute the content strategy for Prime Video in Sub-Saharan Africa, oversee content licensing/commissioning, selection for US/Local film and TV, build the content acquisition pipeline for local and US/Hollywood content across languages, and conceptualise content opportunities and partnerships with studios, TV broadcasters and content owners/aggregators.”
Ms Mba-Uzoukwu is a veteran marketer/brand strategist/manager and fierce lover of the entertainment industry as exemplified by her career trajectory which has seen her work for brands such as M-Net Africa, Airtel Nigeria Limited, Coca-Cola Nigeria and British American Tobacco amongst others.
