It was a four-in-one celebration for the maverick filmmaker, actor and producer, Kunle Afolayan, on Thursday, 30 September 2021.
First, it was the actor’s 47th birthday.

Secondly, his latest movie, Swallow, a Netflix original, premiered exclusively to invited guests.

Thirdly, KAP Cinema”, a 117 regular seater structure with 6 VIP seater provisions perfect for private film screenings, movie premieres, corporate events, stage plays, conferences and brand launches” was unveiled.

And last but not the least, KAP Film and Television Academy was also opened to the public. The academy will “specialise in offering special film programs for kids, hands-on experiences in film and television, and digital online programs in film and television.” With this, Afolayan joins the likes of Mo Abudu and Joke Silva, who also have film academies. A move that we hope will impact the upcoming generation of moviemakers.

The event which held at KAP Hub’s grounds at Ikeja, Lagos, was attended by the who is who of the society and entertainment industry big wigs. Some of the guests at the event included the Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), Olubunmi Ayobami Amao; Group Chief Executive of FCMB, Mr Ladi Balogun; the Commissioner for Culture, Arts and Tourism, (Pharm) Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf; President of TAMPAN, Mr Latin; President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr Emeka Rollas; Executive Director of National Film and Video Censors Board, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas; Former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun; the Group Head W Initiative Access Bank, Ayona Aguele; and Former DG of National Film and Video Censors Board and Nigerian Broadcasting, Mr Emeka Mbah.
