The CEO of EbonyLife Studios, Mo Abudu, has announced the commencement of production for Death And The King’s Horseman. Ms Abudu shared the announcement on Instagram, with details of the film’s crew.
Death And The King’s Horseman is a 1975 Wole Soyinka play based on a real incident that took place in Nigeria during the colonial era. It happened that the horseman of a Yoruba King was prevented from committing ritual suicide by the colonial authorities.
The play is being adapted by EbonyLife Studios as part of the Netflix Exclusive deals signed by the studio and Netflix.
Death And The King’s Horseman is directed by Biyi Bandele who also adapted it for screen and is produced by Heidi Uys, Judith Audu, Quinty Pillay, James Amuta and Adeola Osunkujo.
Ms Abudu has hinted that the film’s cast will be unveiled at a later date.
