We present to you five Nollywood titles coming to cinemas and Netflix this December. Enjoy!

Coming to Cinemas

  1. Aki and Pawpaw 

Based on the characters from the 2002 epic Aki Na Ukwa movie, Aki And Pawpaw movie is a comedy-drama that follows the duo of Aki (Chinedu Ikedieze) and Pawpaw (Osita Iheme) as they get up to new mischiefs and adventures. The movie stars a mix of old and new cast members including Osita Iheme, Chinedu Ikedieze, Hanks Anuku, Stan Nze, Toyin Abraham, Funnybone, Amaechi Muonagor, Juliet Ibrahim, Real Warri Pikin, Lasisi Elenu, Michael “Mc Lively” Sani, Blessing Obasi, Beverly Osu, Francis Sule, Uti Nwachukwu, Sam Uche and more.

Aki and Pawpaw is directed by Biodun Stephen and produced by Mimidoo (Achineku) Bartels, Chris Odeh and Agozie Ugwu. December 17, 2021, is the cinema release date for this Play Network Studios drama. Watch the first teaser of Aki And Pawpaw here.

2. Christmas in Miami 

AY Makun’s Akpos needs no introduction. The comic character has been on adventures to Atlanta, Jamaica and Suncity spreading cheer and fun all the way. This December, Akpos returns with an adventure to Miami in the soon-to-be-released Christmas in Miami movie. Christmas in Miami stars AY Makun, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Osita Iheme, John Amos, IK Ogbonna, Tanya Price, Barry Piacente and other amazing actors. 

The comedy-drama will be in cinemas from December 24, 2021. Watch the teaser below.

3. Superstar 

From Inkblot Productions, the makers of The Wedding Party 1& 2, Quam’s Money and Charge and Bail, comes this new exciting thriller titled Superstar. Superstar follows the story of Queen, an up-and-coming actress trying to navigate life and love in 21st century Nollywood. She must find a balance between artistry and stardom, whilst surviving the demons of her past.

A rich cast lineup makes up Superstar including Nancy Isime, Daniel Etim Effiong, Timini Egbuson, Deyemi Okanlawon, Ufuoma McDermott, Teniola Aladese and Eku Edewor.

December 29, 2021, is the expected cinema release date for Superstar. Watch the teaser here.

Coming to Netflix

4. Tanwa Savage

Starring Uzor Arukwe, Bimbo Ademoye, Maryam Giwa, Nora Peters, Kehinde Ogunlola, Joseph Momodu, Nkechi Blessing, Linda Osifo, Timini Egbuson and Segun Arinze, Tanwa Savage tells the story of a man’s misguided attempt to father children with other women after being unable to do so with his wife.

5. A Naija Christmas

Last but not least on our Detty December list is the romantic comedy from Kunle Afolayan, A Naija Christmas. The movie follows the story of a mother’s ploy to get her three sons to marry and the fall-out that trails her decision. A Naija Christmas is the second Netflix Original from Kunle Afolayan this 2021. It stars Abayomi Alvin, Rachel Oniga, Efa Iwara, Kunle Remi, Segilola Ogidan, Linda Osifo, Abayomi Alvin, Mercy Johnson Okojie, Ade Laoye, Carol King, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzoamaka Aniunoh and many more.
