Damilola Orimogunje’s first feature film, For Maria Ebun Pataki, has been slated for a 16 January 2022 Netflix release date.
Starring Gabriel Afolayan, Meg Otanwa, Tina Mba, For Maria Ebun Pataki looks at postpartum depression, a less talked about topic in Nigerian society.
Synopsis
After a complicated delivery, Derin’s husband, Afolabi, is elated to finally drive his wife and newborn home. Everything seems to be fine on the surface but soon enough it becomes clear that Derin doesn’t share the happiness and joy that comes to most mothers after childbirth. A breakthrough Nigerian film with a frank look at postpartum depression and mental illness in African families.
