If you have ever struggled with lighting black skin as a filmmaker, this knowledge exchange session with Mr. Stanlee Ohikhuare, in which he shares his formula for lighting the black race, is what you need.
Stanlee Ohikhuare is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, cinematographer and the founder of M-JOT Studios. He is also a trained fine artist, a philosophical surrealist and a painter. He graduated from the University of Benin and Yaba College of Technology where he studied Fine Arts, specializing in painting. He is a pioneer in 3D animation technology in Nigeria and communicates strongly with visual images and is one of the Nigerian filmmakers who have championed visual storytelling and innovative cinematography.
Following three years of research, two years of practical methodology, and four years of documentation, he has perfected a formula for lighting black skin, which is intended to work in every given situation, irrespective of the individual’s level of melanin. The research was carried out under the auspices of the collective, Native Doctors. He will be sharing this formula in a practical workshop session.
