More than 28 years after Nigerians were treated to the two-part blockbuster, Glamour Girls, Play Network Studios and Netflix are set to debut a remake of the film. The 1994 film told the story of a group of women who were going against the norm in the society they lived in. Some of the actors in the film are Liz Benson, Eucharia Anunobi, Zack Orji, Pat Attah and Ngozi Ezeonu.
Charles Okpaleke of Play Network Africa had, in 2019, announced his company’s acquisition of the lifetime copyrights to Glamour Girls and had hinted at an upcoming remake.
Glamour Girls remake features a star-studded cast including Nse Ikpe-Etim, Sharon Ooja, Joselyn Dumas, Toke Makinwa and Segilola Ogidan.
Play Network Studios (the film production arm of Play Network Africa) is fast establishing its penchant for remaking old Nollywood classics. Glamour Girls is the newest addition to the Studios’ slate of remakes which includes Nneka the Pretty Serpent, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, and Aki and Pawpaw.
