It seems like yesterday when we entered the new year, surprisingly we are in May already! But if there’s one industry that is not confused about how time is moving it’s Nollywood. There have been loads of film releases since Chief Daddy 2′s debut on January 1, 2022, and there are still other anticipated titles in the works.
We curated a list of 5 Nollywood titles coming out this May so help you plan appropriately. The titles coming to Netflix are highlighted first before the titles coming to cinemas.

Coming to Netflix
Blood Sisters – May 5
First on the list is the EbonyLife/Netflix series directed by Biyi Bandele. The thriller tells the story of two friends, Sarah and Kemi. Sarah is engaged to her dream man, Kola, however, their seemingly idyllic union has a dark side – Kola is a physically abusive and controlling fiancé. Despite Kemi’s vocal misgivings, Sarah is determined to press on with the wedding. On the day of the traditional engagement ceremony, tragedy strikes, unintentionally setting off a catastrophic series of events, finding both women on the run.
Blood Sisters stars Kate Henshaw, Ini Dima Okojie, Nancy Isime, Ramsey Nouah, Wale Ojo, Gabriel Afolayan, Uche Jombo, Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey, Segun Arinze, Genoveva Umeh, Deyemi Okanlawon, Kehinde Bankole, Daniel Etim Effiong, Maurice Sam, Ibrahim Suleiman, and Toke Makinwa.

Dazzling Mirage – May 20
Directed by Tunde Kelani, Dazzling Mirage is a 2014 adaptation of a novel of the same title by Olayinka Abimbola Egbokhar. It follows the story of how a talented, beautiful, young sickle-cell sufferer overcomes social stigma, prejudice and her own low self-esteem to achieve career success, marriage and motherhood.
Dazzling Mirage stars Kemi Lala Akindoju, Yomi Fash Lanso, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Kunle Afolayan, Seun Akindele and Bimbo Manuel.

Ayinla – May 27
Dazzling Mirage is not the only Tunde Kelani’s piece to land a spot on Netflix. His 2021 biopic, Ayinla, will also be available on the streamer from May 27.
Ayinla is an eponymous film about the legendary musician, Ayinla Yusuf, aka Ayinla Omowura. It stars Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Omowunmi Dada, Ade Laoye, Debo “Mr Macaroni” Adedayo, Bimbo Manuel and Kunle Afolayan.

Coming to Cinemas
The Perfect Arrangement – May 13
It’s been back-to-back releases from Inkblot Studios since December 2021. First Superstar, then Blood Covenant in April 2022. This May the production studio is set to drop a new romantic drama titled The Perfect Arrangement.
The movie follows the story of Ade (Sharon Ooja), a free-spirited scion of a respected political family, who finds herself in a love triangle with two brothers (Pere Egbi and Bovi Ugboma). It stars Debo “Mr Macaroni” Adedayo, Rotimi Salami, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Wofai Fada, Adunni Ade, Mimi Chaka, Ummi Baba Ahmed and Funsho Adeolu.

The Wildflower – May 27
Last on our list is the Biodun Stephen-directed gender-based violence-themed film, The Wildflower. Produced by Vincent Okonkwo, the drama stars Damilare Kuku, Toyin Abraham, Kiki Omeili, Jide Kosoko, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Etinosa Idemudia, Angel Unigwe, Eso Dike, Nnochiri Kachi, Jessica Opara and Chris Iheuwa.
