The CEO of EbonyLife Group, Mo Abudu, has announced her venture into film directing with two short films, Her Perfect Life and Iyawo Mi.
Abudu, who studied Directing at the London Film School in 2017, shared the announcement via her official Instagram handle, saying both films are centred on mental health challenges in Nigerian society.
Her Perfect Life tells the story of Onajite Johnson-Ibrahim, a 39-year-old woman who seemed to have a perfect life but wants to end it all. The film stars Pearl Thusi, Joseph Benjamin, Omowunmi Dada, Uzo Osimpka, Christian Paul and Mary Lazarus.
Iyawo Mi (My Wife) follows the story of Kunle who arrives home one night to find a horror awaiting him. His wife, Eniola, seems to have gone mad, hallucinating. Kunle takes matters into his own hands, with tragic consequences. The predominantly Yoruba film features Adedimeji Lateef, Bolaji Ogunmola, Segun Arinze and Jude Chukwuka.
Both films are executive produced by Bola Atta, Wale Tinubu, Shola Akinlade, Pearl Thusi, Nonso Okpala and Mo Abudu, while Heidy Uys is the supervising producer. Inem King, Joshua Olaoluwa, Sonia Nwosu are producing the two films. The films also enjoy the support of The British High Commission and the French Embassy in Lagos.
Shooting kicked off for both titles yesterday and no release details are available yet.

Abudu’s EbonyLife Films is behind most of the popular titles in recent times. In May, the studio premiered Blood Sisters, a Netflix Original, to much acclaim. Its upcoming Netflix Original, Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival happening in September 2022 in Canada.
