The monthly Filmmakers’ Forum hosted by the Nollywood Studies makes a return this September with Prince Jide Kosoko and Elder Adetunji Ojetola as guests.
Prince Jide Kosoko is a veteran actor and pioneer in both the Yoruba and Nollywood sectors of the Nigerian film industry. He hails from a royal family in Lagos Island and studied business administration at the Yaba College of Technology. His acting career kicked off in 1964 at the age of 10 with his role in a play called Makanjuola. He worked for eight years with the Ifelodun Travelling Theatre Group and left in 1972 to start his own group called Jide Kosoko Theatre Company. Jide Kosoko was a founding member of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners under the mentorship of the late Hubert Ogunde. He has featured in many prominent Nigerian films like Asiri Nla (1992), Oro Nla (1993), Glamour Girls (1994), Koseegbe ( 1995), Doctor Bello (2013), The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (2017), King of Boys (2018), Breaded Life (2021) The Wild Flower (2022) and Emi Lokan (2022) to mention a few.
Elder Adetunji Ojetola is an executive producer, marketer and distributor in the Yoruba film industry. He joined the industry in 1992 after his stint as a manager with the popular Bayowa Films and Records International. He later founded De Victory Home Entertainment Limited in 1997. He has since been an activist in the Yoruba film industry and is fully dedicated to the progress of the industry. Elder Ojetola has served in many capacities in the industry and is currently the National President of the Association of Movie Content Owners and Producers (AMCOD), which is the foremost distribution association in the Yoruba film industry. He is also a director of the Audiovisual Collection Organisation (AVRS).
