Anthill Studios Signs Multi-Licence Deal With Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has inked an exclusive multi-year licensing deal with Anthill Studios, giving the streamer worldwide distribution rights to all Anthill’s movies starting from 2022. This is coming weeks after the streamer signed a similar agreement with Inkblot Productions.

What this partnership means is that all movies released by Anthill Studios from 2022 will have their cinema runs after which they will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime. The deal also covers Anthill Studios’ Progressive Tailors Club, the 2021 comedy-satire.

Anthill Studios is a film production and animation company based in Lagos, Nigeria. It is credited for a number of works including Elevator Baby, Day of Destiny, Malika, Prophetess and Progressive Tailors Club.

“We are very excited to bring Anthill’s upcoming slates of popular Nollywood movies to Prime Video customers around the world,” said Ayanna Lonian, Prime Video’s director of content acquisition and head of worldwide major studio licensing strategy. “We want to showcase the very best of Nollywood and authentic African stories to our customers and this groundbreaking deal helps us to achieve that goal.”

Speaking about the deal on his Instagram page, Niyi Akinmolayan, founder of Anthill Studios, said:

“What does this deal mean?…you know me I will use every opportunity to educate.
So a multi-license deal like this means Amazon prime video will be home to all anthill films after they’ve spent weeks in cinemas!!! You have to go see the films in cinema first o!!! and then for people outside Nigeria or those who missed, it’ll be on Amazon Prime Video a couple of weeks after it’s cinema run (when it’s no longer showing in cinemas).
The beauty of this is that we can expand the range of stories we want to tell and explore other genre. Even create new ones like Jujufi lol because there’s a bigger audience. And for anthill we love to tell all kinds of stories. We have even started working on our animated feature.

This also means that I get to share a lot of great things with you as these film are fully owned by Anthill studios and we want to bless the industry with knowledge

Are you ready!!!”

We are here for it and we look forward to seeing more Nigerian content showcased to the world. Congratulations to the Anthill Studios’ team.
