Durban FilmMart Institute (DFMI) Is Accepting Applications For Its Second Business Lab

The Durban FilmMart Institute (DFMI) has opened the call for applications for the second edition of DFMI Business Lab.

DFMI Business Lab is a 12-week business skills development programme aimed at nurturing and empowering producers with the necessary skills to effectively engage in a global market. The programme is presented in partnership with DW Akademie supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The online programme will commence in October 2022.

“The inaugural programme was open to DFM Alumni only, but for this edition, the programme will be open to all emerging industry professionals who are interested in upskilling themselves,” says Magdalene Reddy, General Manager of the Durban FilmMart Institute. “We look forward to welcoming you to the DFM community.”

The DFMI invites producers with African passports who have produced films and have less than 5 years of experience in the industry. Directors, line producers and scriptwriters who are interested in the programme will need to provide a 1-page letter of motivation for consideration to participate.

If you are an African film industry professional based outside of Africa, you will have to advise what percentage of your work is based in the continent.

Kindly note that acceptance into the programme will not be based on a specific film project. (You do not need an active film project to participate in the programme).

Selected participants will need to avail themselves of two 90-minute minutes sessions per week from October 2022 – February 2023. Specific dates will be communicated to selected participants upon confirmation of selection.

The deadline for submissions is 23:59 CAT on Friday, 9 September 2022. For more information, send an email to: info@durbanfilmmart.com
