Kambili Maduka had only one wish as she approached her 29th birthday: To be married before she clocks 30. But just as she was thinking her boyfriend of two years was going to propose on her birthday, she got a breakup instead. Talk about destabilising. Coming on the back of a six weeks suspension from work and a looming eviction from her flat, the breakup could not have come at a worse time. This sequence of events led Kambili on a quest till she found love in the most unexpected place.
Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards is a 2020 movie directed by Kayode Kasum and produced by FilmOne Entertainment, Empire Entertainment and Huahua Media. The movie has an awesome cast including Nancy Isime, Toyin Abraham, Jide Kene Achufusi, Mawuli Gavor, Sharon Ooja, Venita Akpofure, Koye Kekere-Ekun, Uzor Arukwe and Elvina Ibru.

Story: Romance stories are an everlasting genre, and though Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards is a romantic drama, it is one with a bit more panache. Kambili (played by Nancy Isime) is a classy, upbeat, stylish, and trendy career lady who only wanted to be married by age 30. But while her friends and even her mother had stable relationships and were getting engagement rings, she was losing her boyfriend. Determined not to take things lying down Kambili went on a mission to prove to her ex that not only was she ‘wife material,’ she was a whole 30 yards of it! What followed after involved self-discovery, re-invention, true love and friendships that saw Kambili grow from being an immature, disorganised woman so desperate to win her man back to one more self-aware, confident and independent. Quite realistic and brilliantly delivered.
Acting: The cast brought their A-game to their roles and this showed in every scene. From the crazy but affable supervisor, Jessica (Toyin Abraham), to the always ready to listen and provide solutions Chidi ( Jide Kene Achufusi). Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards was a well-acted movie. I loved how Kambili and her friends were able to flow from serious to playful and back to serious. Jessica was also a world-class act in her role as an unconventional supervisor.
Music: The background music selection was great and appropriate for each scene.
Costume: The movie was about upbeat, successful and trendy individuals and the costume portrayed this. Kudos to the costumier.
