Juju Stories, a three-part anthology film, has won the Boccalino d’Oro Award for Best Film at the ongoing Locarno Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland.

The movie, which premiered at the same festival on August 12, 2021, was written and directed by the trio of C.J. “Fiery” Obasi, Abba T. Makama and Michael Omonua.

Like the title suggests, Juju Stories explores magical realism based on Nigerian folktales. Making up Juju Stories are three stories namely: Love Potion by Michael Omonua, YAM by Abba Makama, and Suffer The Witch by C.J. “Fiery” Obasi.

The winning film stars Belinda Agedah Yanga, Paul Utomi, Elvis Poko, Don Ekwuazi, Nengi Adoki, Bukola Oladipupo and Timini Egbuson.

The Locarno Film Festival, which is in its 74th year, holds every August in Switzerland. This year’s edition holds from August 4 – 14, 2021.
