Akwụna is an Igbo word for prostitute, which is one of the themes explored in this Nnamdi Kanaga movie with the same title.
Starring Stella Damasus and Tim Meadows, Akwụna follows the story of Ebere, an immigrant woman who chooses survival above everything else, including herself. The movie is set in modern-day America and spotlights the harrowing things immigrants go through in the quest for survival.
Akwụna is directed and executive produced by Oluyinka Davids, written and produced by Nnamdi Kanaga. The feature film was shot in Dallas, Texas, and has been slated for a 2022 release.
